FAQ
What is the youngest age required to participate in the YKD program?
YKD begins developing skills and talents in kids starting at the age of 8 years old & grade level 3rd.
How far do we travel?
Our competitive teams compete in regional, invitational, and national tournaments throughout the Southeast. Primarily, these tournaments will be held in Tennessee, Virginia, North & South Carolina, and Florida. The regional & invitational events are normally 2-3 day events, and national tournaments are 4-5 day events. All of these events are scheduled annually beginning in early March through July.
How many days do we practice?
The key to player development and team chemistry is practice. Practices are scheduled 2-3 days per week. Practice times are 1.5 to 2 hours depending on gym availability. Our coaching staff determines the days and times for their weekly practice schedules.
Are there registration fees?
Yes, there is a registration fee for our travel basketball team participants. The fee is $400 and is allocated toward tournament costs, team gear, facility rentals, and travel expenses.
Can I volunteer?
We are always looking for assistant coaches, teachers, and friendly board staff to support us with community outreach, fundraising events, tutoring, and mentoring to help further our mission for the youth. Contact us if you are interested in being a part of our volunteer staff.
